Lytle beach is a public beach on Bainbridge Island.
History of Lytle Beach: Lytle beach is one of the first road-ends converted to public use.
Lytle Beach Terrain: No-bank, gradually sloped, sandy/gravel beach.
Lytle Beach Views: Rich Passage, Washington State Ferries (to and from Bremerton), Mt. Rainier, sea lions on the Coast Guard buoy. Occasionally, you can watch an aircraft carrier or submarine heading into or out of the Bremerton Naval Base.
Lytle Beach Activities: Barbecues, paddle boards, swimming, beach combing, sea life viewing on low tides, sun bathing, kite flying, dog walking (on leash), Annual Polar Bear Plunge (January 1st at noon).
Lytle Beach Amenities: Fire pit and donated barbecues, paddle boards, and life jackets, all donated by beach goers — so make sure they’re safe before you allow your children to use them, or bring your own.
Lytle Beach Parking: Minimal parking at the road end (6 cars). Additional parking along Pleasant Beach Road.
Lytle Beach Annual Events: Polar Bear Plunge takes place every January 1st at noon. Strip down to your bathing suit, jump in the water, jump out of the water, and warm up with your favorite blanket and beverage. Jugglers, photographers and music are often seen at the event, as well as the local newspaper reporter.
