The Farm Trail project is approximately 2,100 linear feet (0.4 miles) of 8-foot-wide path on the historic alignment and road base of County Road No. 145. The purpose of the project is to improve non-motorized connections and recreation opportunities on City property and to expand the City’s trail network. The Farm Trail is located on City right-of-way and City-owned farm property between NE Day Road to the north and NE Lovgreen Road to the south.
The trail, which is wide and wood-chipped, passes by the historic Suyematsu Farm and vineyard, Grace Church with its mini-trail system and labyrinth, the Island School focused on outdoor education, and Butler Green Farms, a biodynamic produce grower. The trail offers a mix of scenic views, including the Suyematsu pumpkin patch (in season) and a deciduous forest filled with songbirds.
There are three other ways to access the trail. Hikers can start at the trailheads located at the south end of the Farm Trail on Charles Place NE and at the lookout on NE Kenwood Avenue. You can find some parking at the Charles Place trailhead and at Grace Church from Monday to Saturday.
